The Capitol Hill Pride Festival March & Rally joins the rest of the world in mourning of the lives lost in the Orlando Nightclub Shooting and condolences to the families as we keep our thoughts and prayers to those that were injured.
This act of violence is a reminder of how the entire nation must stand together and stand strong against hate, oppression and division. And perhaps another reminder of how we must increase our responsibilities to create safe spaces for our communities to not only gather and remember but to demonstrate equality and support for this generation and future generations.

We share the statement of Interpride:

“In light of Sunday’s tragedy, the remaining Pride celebrations take on a new and important meaning. We cannot allow the threat of violence to silence us. When possible, we must work even more closely with our Police Departments and security companies to help alleviate public safety concerns. We will work together to ensure that the commitment to Pride is not overshadowed by fear.” - Brett Hayhoe and Sue Doster, Co-Presidents Interpride

Thank you Seattle for joining the
Hands Across Broadway Memorial

10-10:30am Capitol Hill Pride Festival March, Rainbow City Band

Getting the stage ready in 2015
March from Seattle Central Campus to Main Stage on Harrison. “Never Forget” 1969 Stonewall with speakers and history.
The Capitol Hill Pride Festival March will be an all ages, all orientations, all gender/transgender civic march with no fees open to the public.
The march has no fees as the Directors of the festival feel an individual should not have to pay a fee to march, demonstrate or show civic and community pride.
Seattle has not had an all gender inclusive LGBT march for 37 years since the Parade split from marches and started charging fees thereby shutting out individuals and low budget organizations.
Marchers are encouraged to bring hand written signs.

10:30 - 11am  Opening Speakers Speakers: Graham Taylor – Stonewall: Natl. Parks Conservation Assoc. Nikki Etienne, Marsha Botzer, Monisha Harrell of Equal Rights Washington, Gary Tolman- Activist and member of Freedom Socialist Party, Laura Ingles Wilder representing Intersex gender, Alliance for Gun Responsibility  - Intiative 1941.

Graham Taylor – Stonewall: Natl. Parks Conservation Assoc.
Graham Taylor is the Northwest Field Representative for the National Parks Conservation Association (NPCA). NPCA advocates on behalf of America's national parks.
Thankfully, with President Obama's designation of a national monument for Stonewall, we can say that our park system now has a site dedicated to telling the LGBT civil rights story!
NPCA is a proud leader in the campaign to designate this site, and thanks our many LGBT friends and allies who worked tirelessly to encourage President Obama to take action and designate the 1st National Park for LGBT Equality!
Marsha Botzer
Marsha Botzer has served the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and progressive communities for over 40 years, as a founding member of Equality Washington, and on boards of Pride Foundation, Safe Schools, Lambert House, Seattle Counseling Service and the World Professional Association for Transgender Health.

Marsha Botzer
A founding member of Equal Rights Washington, a past co-chair of Seattle’s LBGT Commission, Marsha served as co-chair of The National LGBTQ Task Force in 2005-6, 2009-10, and as Chair of the Action Fund in 2015.  She is a founding member of Out In Front Leadership Project, founded Seattle’s internationally known Ingersoll Gender Center, and served as a national co-chair of the 2008 Obama Pride Campaign.
In 2009 she served on the Leadership Committee of Equality Across America.  In 2011 Marsha received the Jose Julio Sarria Civil Rights Award and the Washington State GLBT Bar Association Award.  In 2013 she was selected for the Inaugural U.S. Edition of the Trans 100 List, and in 2014 she received the Gay City Health Community Leadership Award.  In 2015 Marsha was elected to the Martin Luther King County Labor Council.  Also in 2015 she received the Distinguished Scholar Award from Antioch University in Seattle and the Backbone Award from the National Secular Students Alliance.

2016 Judges:

DonnaTella Howe is moving and shaking all over Seattle. From Bacon Strip to Rainbow Bingo and eXposed, and playing hostess for DonnaTella Vs Humanity at 500 East and events with Team Diva Real Estate including Divas Take The Hill. She has expanded her appearances and is working the freelance circuit.  Her hosting ability came about while working as assistant for MoM, running her Mother’s Day and birthday tribute shows and the occasional WET night at RPlace. Between the looks her mama gave her, some Atomic Cosmetics, lessons on how to wear it courtesy some of the best queens in the Pacific Northwest and some well-chosen outfits, DonnaTella has become a party girl around town.

Performances range from comedy, to top 40, old school hits and the occasional dramatic ballad. She is always looking to entertain, amuse and start the party off right. No two moments or performances of hers are alike and she is constantly striving to build her numbers into better spectacles while keeping audiences guessing. She is the social butterfly, the flirt and the lover, but also the bitch you don’t wanna cross. She’s got the sexy sass of Katy Perry with the mouth of Elaine Stritch, a new class of queen mixing substance and style and here to make the show memorable. Having completed reigns as Miss Gay Seattle, Imperial Princess & Czarina of Capitol Hill, she was recently crowned Olympia XLV and represents throughout Western Washington, Oregon, Alaska and Canada as Empress of Seattle, making herself available to appear and perform wherever she is needed to support the community.

Kara Sutra is a local, grass-fed, free range, chameleon drag performer living in Seattle. She originates from Denver Colorado. Ms Sutra moved to the PNW in the fall of 2014 to pursue a career in hair, makeup and performance art. When she's not busy with her day job Kara can be found performing around the Seattle area in Bacon Strip, Court of Seattle events, fundraisers and other various gigs.

Follow her on Instagram and face book to stay current with her work and events!

Vivien Gabor is ready for anything. Always the madam, never the whore, this plus-sized diva will get you hot and drop you cold. With a lifetime background of performing and dressing up in thrift-store tutus, she was born for glamor. Be sure to tune into her new show, Street Walking everyFriday on YouTube!

CHERRY SUR BÊTE (FRENCH, FOR “CHERRY ON BEAST”) OBLITERATES GENDER STEREOTYPES IN OUR WORLD WHERE FEMININITY AND MASCULINITY EXIST ONLY IN OPPOSITION.

CHERRY’S PROUDEST ACHIEVEMENTS INCLUDE RAISING FUNDS FOR SEATTLE COUNSELING SERVICES, GAY CITY, CAMP TEN TREES, AND SPEAKING TO BODY DIVERSITY AT THE UNIVERSITY OF WASHINGTON AND TO TRANS AWARENESS AT JAKE TALKS. CHERRY ALSO HOSTED THE 4TH & BELL STAGE AT THE SEATTLE PRIDE PARADE IN 2014 AND 2015 AND IS HOSTING THE MAIN STAGE SEATTLE PRIDE PARADE 2016 ON SUNDAY!

Dragging all the boys to their watery graves, it’s Miss Siren Hung.  She’s the current reigning Duchess of Puget Sound and Princess of Skagit Valley College.  She likes cat-calling at construction workers, and boys who know how to “doggie paddle”.  Find her and her hips that lie today at 2pm on Julia’s stage and tomorrow with the Imperial Court of Seattle float at the Pride parade!

Zoe Newton

Zoe Newton, 8.5 years old, is a student at Lowell Elementary.

Blind since birth, she’s developed her own unique way of moving through the world. Zoe was born with a rare and fatal genetic disorder known as Malignant Infantile Osteopetrosis (MIOP), and required major surgery and a risky bone marrow transplant by the age of one to save her life. Her medical team was amazed that she survived; she is by all accounts a miracle girl. Zoe started playing the piano and keyboard when she was 3, has perfect pitch, and is entirely self taught.

Music is her life; playing piano and singing is her first language.  She loves everyone she meets and teaches her parents everyday about unconditional love. She’s so excited to perform at a festival that celebrates love!

Stonewall, Never Forget

Stonewall Riots, June 28, 1969

Photo from The New York Daily News, Sunday, June 29, 1969

The Stonewall riots were a historical turning point in LGBT rights. Often compared to the civil rights turning point of Rosa Parks, the riots took place on June 28, 1969, at the Stonewall Inn in New York City when gays and youth stood up against harassing police raids and arrests for being gay which were common at the time.

Legend has it that the raid was started by a simple penny being thrown at a police officer.

Today, Pride marches and parades are held around the world at the end of June commemorating the anniversary of the riots. Communities such as Capitol Hill in Seattle have become neighborhoods where bars, restaurants and businesses have become safe places for gays and lesbians to be open about their sexual orientation without fear of being arrested or harassed.

In modern times ongoing inequality, basic human rights and international persecution underlines the need for persons and businesses to demonstrate their support for the LGBT community and today what has become known as Pride.

Who We Are in Supporting the Humanities

The Northwest Museum of Legends and Lore is a 501(c) 3 educational non-profit supporting the humanities and established its first six years on Capitol Hill and is sponsored in part by the Raynier Foundation founded by museum supporter James W. Ray - a Capitol Hill Gay Philanthropist who supported the Humanities and created the Raynier Foundation and namesake of the James W. Ray Orion Center Youth Center for homeless youth.
The museum has scheduled events in the Northwest for the past fourteen years hosting many authors and lectures and cultural arts groups including conferences at Seattle Center and most recently the Seattle Faerie Festival. The museum still conducts the Capitol Hill Historical Ghost Tour with an extensive knowlege of the area and history highlighting the famous legends of Capitol Hill such as Bruce Lee, Kurt Cobain, Jimi Henrix, Frances Farmer and historical figures such as Bertha Knight Landes- Seattle's first woman Mayor, Roy Olmstead and many others.
Now shifting to online, the museum remains active with the community and the Broadway Business Owners Association (BBOA) and has established the first Pride Asia at Hing Hay park in the International District. Occasionally, the museum can be seen on current Travel Channel shows such as "Mysteries at the Museum" and the Discovery Channel.

Festival History
Director Charlette LeFevre as elected Vice-President of the Capitol Hill Community Council in 2008 and Chair of the Arts and Events Committee ran on a platform of establishing LGBT events and organized the first Capitol Hill Pride Festival in 2009 as a two block festival. That year the museum became the fiscal agent and organizers for the festival as the Community Council lacked a business license and even though approved by a community vote opposed the start fearing parking meter fees. Despite obstacles, its first year, the festival drew 5,000 in attendance and in 2010 and 2011 the festival became a five block festival drawing an estimate of 30,000 throughout the day.
The event has become the largest single day event for Capitol Hill and Seattle's and the Northwest's largest Pride Street festival.
The festival Directors are committed to keeping the festival a grass roots social justice community festival on Capitol Hill as a fiscally responsible agent and stewardship and showcasing new and emerging artisst on the festival stages
as well as furthering the recognition of the Art of Drag as a cultural art form.
New for 2013:
The festival is the new site of the Rainbow Women's Health Fair in its 15th year and for the first time  the Navy and SPD will be boothing
as well as site of the ongoing Julia's Block Party and the LaCocina Stage.
